Conditional Merge fields offer a way to eliminate a segment or line item in an email signature block. A particular use case would be if phone numbers are labeled as Office and Mobile, and a user or co-brand partner does not have a value for one of these in his or her profile. This function allows the label in the signature block to not be displayed with an empty value.
The instance we're going to show below is for the default co-brand signature block.
Locate the signature block by going to My Account > My Profile in the left hand menu and choosing the Signature Blocks tab. Or, if this is for a company level signature block, then navigate to My Company > Company Info in left and menu and select Signature Blocks.
Locate the desired Signature Block to edit by scrolling down and choose the edit button for that block.
Highlight the label and merge field of the item to be conditional and choose the Conditional button.
A configuration panel will now open. The left hand option is where you choose exactly which merge field to be associated with the highlighted section. In this case, it is "Cobrand Phone - Mobile".
The right hand options are based on how the Signature Block is formatted.
Conditional Block Behavior:
If the field that needs to be conditional is in line with other items, then the Span option should be chosen. If the field is in it's own cell or line, then the Div option should be chosen.
Add Trailing Whitespace:
If it is desired to have a space replace the conditional contents, then choose the Yes option. If there is no need for a space, then choose No.
Choose the Save button
Once the field and its label have been saved as Conditional, that area will be surrounded with a blue outline. The area can also be edited or removed by hovering over the field and using the pop up options.
